Natural Ways to Relieve Pain in your Dog

Just as bad as you would not to see a loved one hurt, the same goes for any one who loves their dog. When your dog is in pain, you will do anything to help alleviate that pain. Here are some natural strategies that may just help the next time your dog is feeling discomfort.

Magnet Therapy
Static or permanent magnets are said to improve blood flow. If your dog suffers from arthritis, hip dyspepsia or other joint or muscle discomforts, a dog bed designed with magnet therapy could be beneficial.

Dietary Supplements
Glucosamine and chondroitin can relieve arthritis pain as do omega 3 fatty acids, which act as an anti-inflammatory to aid aching joints.

Massage
Just as you can feel the healing effects that a good massage delivers, so can your dog. The manipulation of the aching muscles increases the blood flow for faster healing.

Reiki
Reiki premises is that individuals’ bodies have energy fields affecting health and that those fields can be altered by positioning the hands lightly on the body where pain exists. This has been found to be beneficial in some dogs who suffer from hip dyspepsia, arthritis, broken bones, and joint and back pain.

  1. I just read an article on Reiki and it's benefits for your dog. My dog was hit by a car last month and while the broken bones appear to be mended, she still seems to be having pain. I'm going to look into this and see if we have a provider near us.

  2. My older dog has arthritis and suffers a lot. I've found that he sleeps much better on a hot water bottle. I've never heard of these other treatments, but for his comfort, I'm willing to look into it. Thanks.
