Grooming your Dog

Some people question how often one should groom their dog. Ask yourself, how often do you groom yourself? You should groom your dog as often as possible. As well, you should start grooming your dog from the moment you acquire him or her. The sooner you acquaint your dog with the grooming tools the quicker they will become comfortable with them.

Grooming is an essential part of your dogs health care. Nails that are too long not only become uncomfortable for them during their daily activities, but can get caught in things risking them being pulled out. Long nails can also change the gate/posture of your dog causing structural problems later on.

Unkempt teeth can fall out, cause halitosis in your dog’s breath, sore gums, and if left uncared for can lead to eating and nutritional problems which leads to a mess load of other problems for your dog.

Unkempt hair leads to matting and makes for a great nesting place for fleas and ticks. It can become impossible to find hot spots or sores your dog may be suffering from if the hair is not groomed on a normal basis. Don’t forget to gently wipe out your dog’s ears as well. Ear mites are quite uncomfortable for your dog.
