Save a Dog’s Life: Go to a Pet Shelter

If you are thinking about getting a dog it would be wonderful if you chose a dog from a pet shelter. There are millions of dogs that have to be put down due to overpopulation and no one to take care of these little souls.

Why spend money for an expensive dog that will be your family pet when you can get a much cheaper dog at a pet shelter? The fees you will pay when receiving your dog from a shelter are due to spaying or neutering, vaccinations that may have had to of been done, tests to make sure the dog is in good health, heartworm pills and/or other medications, food and care while living in the pet shelter.

You can go to a Humane Society as well to get a dog as a family pet. Some people think it will be too hard to go to the Human Society to get their dog as they can only choose one. When a person sees those beautiful big eyes looking up at them, they just want to take ALL of the dogs home with them.

Many times you will find a full bred dog of the breed you were looking for. If the breed is not there and you really want a cocker spaniel, you can call the pet shelter and Human Society to see if the particular breed you are looking for has shown up. You may also stop by the Humane Society on your way home from work or grocery shopping and check out which type of dogs are available for adoption.

  1. The pet shelter is the only way our family adopts and gets a family pet.
