Dog Training Leashes

Dog training leashes can be helpful if they are used correctly. When your dog sees the leash and he knows it is time to go for a walk, he may immediately start to pull on the leash. If this happens, the rest of the walk will most likely be out of control. This makes you unhappy and if you are yanking on the leash and yelling at your dog to get him to stop, this is not a very good walk for either of you.

To help with the pulling on the leash problem, simply train your dog to stay calm when you put the leash onto him. Command your dog to sit and stay. If your dog does not sit and stay, simply stand there and command “sit and stay” again. He will learn that if he does not sit and stay, the walk will take longer to get to. Never give in to your dog or he will learn that being wild is just fine.

If you are still having trouble, practice the command of “sit and stay” without the leash in your hand. You may consider taking an obedience class to train your dog as well.

  1. This has helped immensely! My dog was so out of control...he's large and I started to dread taking him for a walk.

Thankfully your tips and leash have made our walks pleasurable.

  2. I really like these leashes. I'm ordering a few more to make sure I have a spare for our cabin and to keep one in the vehicle.

  5. Tried one of your leashes. I highly recommend it. Even my daugher has better control with the dog when she walks him.
