Do you have a Bedlington Terrier?

The Bedlington Terrier originated in England and was used for a ratter or a vermin hunter. If you own a Bedlington Terrier and it spends any amount of time outdoors without supervision, you may have noticed a drop in moles and other little critters in your yard.

The Bedlington Terrier life span is between 12 to 15 years. It is solid blue, sandy, or liver or bi-color mix of solid with tan markings on its legs, chest, underside of the tail and inside hindquarters, and over each eye. The Bedlington Terrier has a single coat that does not shed. Its hair is more on the coarse side standing away from the skin. It feels crisp to the touch and has a tendency to curl especially on the head and face. Bedlington Terrier’s weigh in around 17 to 23 pounds.

The Bedlington Terrier has a silly personality and loves to play. They are highly affectionate, intelligent, gentle, courageous, and graceful and are very easy to train. Bedlington Terrier’s are okay with older children as long as they are supervised and well trained. They will generally do well with other pets, however cats and small pets such as guinea pigs, mice, hamsters may be mistaken as prey.

  1. Oh, how cute are they! They would actually be a welcome addition to my family. The neighborhood has a lot of ground squirrels and they are tearing up my yard. I'm betting that would keep one or two of these little cuties busy for quite some time.

  2. They are good looking dogs. I'm assuming that they have been trimmed up. They sound like really good pets for someone with no young children. I noticed that you said older children with supervision. Since we have 3 under the age of five, I'm thinking we should consider another breed. I appreciate your honesty.
