Get Rid of Old Dog Toys

With the current economy you may be trying to save money. You know your dog’s toys are getting worn out and old. You may think your dog will not choke on his old dog toys, but accidents do happen.

If your dog has old toys that are ripped or falling apart, please throw them out. Even if one of the old dog toys is your dog’s favorite dog toy, it may harm him. You do not want to end up taking your dog to the vet emergency room and spending hundreds of dollars to save your dog. Not to mention the heartbreak you will feel if your dog has to undergo surgery…or worse. You will have painful guilt on something so easy that could have been prevented.

If the squeaky part of the dog toy is seen through a hole in the toy, please throw out the dog toy as it is an accident waiting to happen.

To figure out if you should throw out the old dog toy, think of it as if your dog is a two year old child. Would the two year old child be able to safely play with the toy? If the answer is “no” then it is time to throw out the old dog toy.

There are many dog toys that are inexpensive. You could buy one dog toy for your dog at this time. Maybe ask for dog toys for a Christmas gift. You can find plush dog toys, chewy dog toys, etc. There is sure to be a new and safe dog toy you can give your beloved dog.

Puppy Dog Toys

If you have a puppy you need to give him or her some puppy dog toys. You will help prevent your puppy from chewing on items he/she should not. If you catch your puppy chewing on your dining room table’s wooden chair leg, show the puppy his/her dog chew toy. Anytime you catch your puppy chewing on something that should not be chewed on, hand a chew toy to him/her to direct the attention away from the item that should not be chewed on.

There are puppy dog toys that can be put in the freezer and given to your puppy. This will help your puppy make it through the teething stage. Once your puppy is done playing with the chew toy, simply put it back in the freezer for another time.

Do not buy puppy dog toys that have pieces that can fall off when chewed. Items inside of the dog toy is not a good idea. Your puppy may eventually chew right through to the center and end up choking or swallowing the item inside. You don’t want to have to pay for surgery to get the dog toy item out of your puppies intestine.

Do not give your puppy toys that have eyes and noses that can be chewed off. These dog toys are not safe. Neither are dog toys that have strings that can wrap around your puppy and choke his/her neck.

For fun and safe toys for your puppy, please check out Doggie-Corral.
