Unleashed Dogs Parks
Dog parks provide the perfect opportunity for your dog to play with other fellow canines but before you let the interaction begin keep a few things in mind before you find yourself going crazy with some possible disasters!
Make sure your dog is well behaved and has good obedience skills. If not, get some refresher courses before heading out to an unleashed dog park. If your dog is too aggressive, a dog park is not a wise idea. Keep in mind there will be dogs of all sizes there. Know the park rules. Most parks require your dog to be up to date with vaccinations. All dog parks require that you pick up behind your dog any lovely droppings he or she may leave so make sure you have the proper equipment with you to handle this. Not only that, if your dog is a digger, be prepared to be filling in holes.
A few other things to keep in mind before letting your dog off his or her leash is to make sure that the fencing around the park is secure. You do not want your dog running out into traffic. Have your dog wear a flat collar with clear identification tags and bring a water bowl, leash, toys you don’t mind losing, towel, and plastic bags for poo-poo pick-up patrol.

Exercise and Playtime with your Dog
Just like you, your dog doesn’t want to just sit around 24/7. Well, you might, but your dog definitely does not want to. Dogs are active and require stimulation to maintain a healthy disposition. Exercise and playtime give your dog a natural outlet for energy, helps to alleviate boredom, reduces destructive behavior, and help maintains a healthy weight for your dog (dog obesity). The added benefit of exercise and playtime you’re your dog is the human-dog bond.
Just letting your dog run out in the yard does not provide the kind of interactive exercise he needs. Most dogs will not start running around on their own and some dogs require far more than just a daily walk to give them the proper outlet they seek. Play ball or use a rope toy to encourage interactive play. Check out Doggie-Corral for a full line of great dog toys that will give your dog the exercise and playtime it craves with you.

Dog Proof Your Home
Dogs are curious creatures. They love to explore in many fashions. They explore by their sense of smell, texture, taste, and sight. Even by their sense of hearing. That leaves a lot wide open to a dog in a home. Almost anything can tempt the curios side of your dog like chewing on your slippers or worse, chewing on something that can be deadly to your dog. A few areas where extra precaution needs to be taken for the protection of your dog is the kitchen and bathroom; anywhere chemicals may be found. However, that does not exclude bedrooms and living rooms as many plants can be a temptation to your dog that could be fatal to them as well as electrical cords.
Take extra precaution to keep sharp cooking and cleaning utensils, poisonous detergents, aluminum cans, choking and suffocation hazards such as discarded chicken bones and plastic bags, and shattered glass or dishes out of harms way of your dog.
In main living quarters and bedrooms, make sure electrical cords are not left out exposed as well as your curtain cords. Curtain cords can lead to strangulation if you are not present and your dog decides to play with it. Think of your dog as a toddler. If it can harm a toddler, it can harm your dog. A few tips that will help prevent or slow down your dogs natural need to chew is by using a cayenne pepper spray or any bitter tasting or foul-smelling repellent available on Doggie-Corral.com to make areas like couches and beds less tempting. Use chew toys provide soothing relief for a teething puppy but it is highly suggested unless your dog is well trained, not to buy toys and treats in the shape of shoes or clothes and not to use old clothes or shoes as dog toys.
In the bathroom, make sure all medications, air fresheners, and personal-care products out of reach of your dog. Also, keep the toilet seat down when you are not around. Smaller dogs can fall in the toilet and most toilet tank fresheners are poisonous.
Keep your garage off limits to your dog if you are not around. If your garage is used to house your dog when you are gone, make sure you have taken extreme measure to safeguard your dogs life. Keep all paints, chemicals, motor oils, antifreeze, sharp tools, electrical tools, electrical cords, ropes, garden tools, etc well out of reach of your dog. A garage really does not make for a very good doghouse unless extreme measures have been taken. Doggie-Corral has wonderful doghouses that make a far better option and is much safer for your dog.

Bonding with your Dog
One of the best ways to bond with your dog is to spend quality time with it. It is not much different from having a child. If you neglect a child, it will not thrive, same way with a dog. Does that mean any attention is better than no attention? Absolutely not. As with a child, constant negative attention over time will lead to serious consequences, for both the child and the parent. Same goes with a dog; it can lead to the dog counteracting by acting out of nature and striking back.
Some great ways to promote a positive loving bond with your dog are:
• Petting, patting, and gently grooming your dog calm, reassures, and makes your dog happy.
• Playtime allows you and your dog to share your dog's joy in movement and games.
• Agility training and obedience training can enhance your relationship and allow your dog to gain confidence by successfully completing tasks and earning positive reinforcement from you.
All simple things one can do with their dog and the paybacks are ten fold over.

Choosing the Right Pet
If you are looking for a new pet but aren't sure which one to get, there are a few tips that may help you with your decision. Sure, all puppies are cute and you would almost be tempted to take every one home with you. But, there are some things you need to consider with the breed of the dog such as temperament, health issues and how well they get along with children and other pets. Generally, you can teach a puppy just about anything from using a puppy pad to sitting on command. However, there are a few things to think about.
Finding that perfect pet may mean doing your research on different breeds. If there are certain breeds that you are interested in, this can be a starting point for you. Take into consideration your living space. If you live in an apartment, make sure you pick a dog that will do well in a close living space. A bull mastiff, for example might be overkill for an apartment. Which breeds will do well with other pets, especially a cat or a completely different bred dog is a good question to ask. Many breeders can help you with these questions and many of them are glad to take the time to talk to you.
Choosing the right pet doesn't have to be difficult but it does mean that you need to consider your own personal situation. It can be a rather fun journey for the whole family. Don't count out the mixed breeds, or "mutts" as these can make great pets also especially if you know what the breeds make up the dog!

Great Dog Crates for your Pet
Choosing a crate for your dog may seem a little difficult, but it doesn't have to be. There are several different kinds to consider, but determining your main use of the crate can help in your decision. If you are looking for training crates, there are great ones in all sizes to choose from. Crates for overnight sleeping are also available and many of these are plush, colorful and comfortable for your pet.
After you determine the right crate size for your dog, then you have a few other options to choose. There are crates with only one door and others that have two and three doors. While this may seem like an unusual choice for a pet owner, these doors are positioned on the top, front and side so that you can easily get to your pet in different situations to let him out for a walk or for potty training purposes.

Traveling with your pet becomes much easier with a crate. There are many crates that are made for traveling, giving your dog a safe environment in which to ride in a car, bus or plane. These crates also make for great transportation to and from the veterinarian's office.
So, considering a crate doesn't have to be difficult for you since there are many styles and sizes. You will feel more confident that your pet is safe and secure in all situations!

Health Insurance for your Pet
Ever wondered what would happen if your pet got sick, not just sick like an upset stomach, but really sick? How in the world would you be able to afford all of the vet bills? On average, a pet owner spends anywhere from $200 to $300 per year on their veterinarian expenses. Cancer is the number one killer of canines at present.
There are many companies that offer pet health insurance to help cover the expenses of veterinarian bills. This makes a great affordable way for you to be sure that your pets are covered. Pet insurance is handled very similar to a human's health insurance. You pay your premiums and there are co-pays and set amounts in place for you in case you ever need it. For example, having your dog's teeth cleaned or getting him updated on his shots can really add up but with pet health insurance you could eliminate all of this and only pay a co-pay or a set amount for the procedures done.
It is something to look into. Since there are many companies out there, you can research them to see which ones will work the best for you, your budget and especially your pet. Give them the health coverage that they deserve. After all, they are man's best friend!
