Do you have a Pharaoh Hound?

If you have a Pharaoh Hound you have probably found out that they are a very inquisitive dog that loves to play and is highly intelligent. They are also known to have a sense of humor and are reserved around strangers. The Pharaoh Hound is highly trainable and will definitely get a lot of heads turned while you are out on your daily walk.

The Pharaoh Hound originated in Egypt and was used as a hunting dog. They live between 12 to 14 years. Their color ranges from tan to a deep rich tan to chestnut with a white tip on the tail, chest, toes, and centerline on face. Their coat is short and glossy and barely sheds. Males can reach heights of 25 inches at shoulders and females 24 inches. The average weight of a Pharaoh Hound is 50 pounds. They are a lean looking dog.

Pharaoh Hound’s are great with children and even better if they grow up together making it a perfect family pet. They also make terrific rescue dogs, especially if they have had exposure to children. They are great socializers with other dogs as long as they are introduced properly but the hunter in them makes them likely to chase after cats and other small animals. The Pharaoh Hound is a low maintenance dog as far as grooming and make a perfect companion.
